COERR Support the Pre-school Education for Needy Schoolchildren

COERR support the Pre-school education for needy children in the Good Shepherd Sisters’ School in Bangkok, by means of Lunch program, stationery and other supplies including school uniform. This program has greatly helped the pre-school children to prepare them to possibly enter formal schooling. Forty-two children have been engaged in this program that promotes their intellectual, physical, social and emotional development.

The students were divided into 2 classes according to age, namely: Class One for pre-school children aged 3-5 years old, numbering 18 persons (6 boys and 12 girls). Class Two for those children aged over 5 years old who are illiterate numbering 24 persons (15 boys and 9 girls).

Typically, pre-school activities started with morning assembly and prayer or meditation, followed by physical exercise activities for both classes. After this, the students entered their classrooms where they were taught basic Thai language, basic English language, pre-math skill, basic social studies and social skills. These subjects are essential for their intellectual, emotional and social development. They also attend activities to stimulate brain growth such as Super Brain games, Yoga for pre-school children, and outdoor exercise which were arranged for the children weekly.

Despite their tough living situation, these children paid attention to their lessons and have participated in all activities regularly.
